Why do we love it?

The Stump Jump Sauvignon Blanc 2024 from D’Arenberg Winery is the white wine that will make the shift to autumn weather feel like a breeze! A gem from one of Australia’s most iconic wine regions, this Sauvignon Blanc—crafted by McLaren Vale’s most eccentric, innovative, and talented winemaker, Chester Osborn—is a standout from miles away. This wine screams New World, bringing a permanent summer vibe to your glass, bursting with freshness, energy, and Australia’s tropical flair.

Founded in 1912 by Joseph Osborn, D’Arenberg is now in the hands of the fourth generation, Chester Osborn. A founding member of Australia’s First Families of Wine, the winery is a sustainability pioneer, using 70% less plastic and harnessing solar energy. All wines are made using certified organic and biodynamic methods, with grapes pressed in the traditional basket press. The crown jewel of the estate is the striking d’Arenberg Cube—a five-storey architectural marvel that blends wine tasting with art, nestled among the lush vineyards of McLaren Vale.

The Stump Jump Sauvignon Blanc 2024 is a single-varietal Sauvignon Blanc, sourced from old vines in McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills. Grapes are gently pressed using the basket press and fermented in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures. The result is a crisp, fresh, and aromatic wine overflowing with tropical fruit, lime, and freshly cut herbs.

Put simply, if you’re a Sauvignon Blanc lover, this one’s a must-try. One bottle won’t be enough—here, the standard unit is a six-pack!

On the nose, The Stump Jump Sauvignon Blanc 2024 offers aromas of freshly cut grass and lemon blossom, followed by layers of passionfruit, peach, pineapple, lime, and lemon curd, with a subtle spicy hint of ginger.

On the palate, it’s light to medium-bodied, with zesty citrus acidity and flavours of juicy grapefruit, kiwifruit, and ripe peaches. Delicate herbal notes and a spicy touch of green capsicum add depth and character.

Chicken Piccata

  • 2 chicken fillets (breast or thigh)
  • 3 tbsps. of butter
  • 3 juicy lemons
  • 150 ml. white wine (preferably Sauvignon blanc or Assyrtiko)
  • 150 ml. chicken broth, hot
  • 1 bunch of parsley
  • Olive oil
  • Flour for all purposes
  • Capers
  • Salt
  • Freshly ground pepper

First mush up, in a mortar, a pinch of salt, a few peppercorns, some lemon zest and 1 1/ tablespoon of olive oil.

Cut the fillets along with a sharp knife, creating 2 slices of each breast.

Brush the fillets with the mortar mixture by lightly massage the chicken and then flour the fillets.

In a large pan add 2 tablespoons of butter and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. When they heat up, we sauté the chicken until it gets a nice golden color and we remove it from the pan.

In the same pan add the broth and the wine. Allow to boil and then put the fillets back into the pan.

Leave it to high heat until the sauce begins to thicken slightly.  As long as the sauce cools, it will thicken even more, so do not let the whole sauce evaporate.

Add 1 tablespoon of butter, the lemon juice from the two lemons and a few slices of lemon, shake the pan and add the capers.

Remove it from the fire, add chopped parsley and serve with thin pasta, rice or boiled potatoes!
