VINA AQUITANIA

Viña Aquitania was founded in 1990 by four winemakers and agronomists: Bruno Prats (Château Cos d’Estournel), Paul Pontallier (Château Margaux), Felipe de Solminihac (a Chilean winemaker of French descent), and later Ghislain de Montgolfier (Champagne Bollinger). The story began in 1984, when Prats and Pontallier were searching for exceptional terroir in Chile. In 1990, they acquired 18 hectares in Peñalolén, at the foothills of the Andes, in the heart of the Maipo Valley. The first plantings were French-origin Cabernet Sauvignon, and the winery was completed in 1993. Aquitania also cultivates Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the Malleco Valley, located 650 km south of Santiago—home to Chile’s southernmost commercial vineyards. Viña Aquitania is known for its quality, elegance, and the French winemaking philosophy applied to Chilean terroir.
