We will witness the magic of the renowned vineyards (#1 World's Best Vineyard 2023), nestled at the foothills of the Andes, unfold before us as we taste the iconic wines of Catena Zapata Winery! Yes, Malbec is undoubtedly the undisputed star, but Argentina is far more than that. Both Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon reveal distinctive facets of their character on Argentinian soil, producing wines that have nothing to envy from the great and celebrated French classics.
We will discover how altitude, terroir and the dedication of an entire family succeeded in transforming Argentinian wine, achieving natural balance, freshness and remarkable concentration, ultimately rewriting the wine history of the entire country!
Nicolás Catena Zapata (Decanter Wine Legend 1997) firmly believed that the foothills of the Andes could produce world-class wines and invested in high-altitude vineyards, breaking the rules and proving his vision right in every respect. Today, the fourth generation of the family, under the guidance of Laura Catena, continues to combine traditional winemaking with innovative methods, earning Catena Zapata continuous international acclaim.
Back to our own journey, on that evening Richard Gordon, Export Manager of Catena Zapata, will be joining us to introduce us to the philosophy behind the estate’s legendary vineyards in Mendoza (Angelica, La Piramide, Nicasia, Angelica Sur and Adrianna).
